Japan: hearts & thoughts

(the above clip is from Akira Kurosawa's film Dreams, as the title states, it's a compilation of dreams set to film. This portion of the film was a vision of Mt. Fuji erupting, belching radiation. It was a metaphor for mans destruction of the planet, & eerily ominous of the situation in Japan)

Call it cliche, but I too had visions as well today pondering the fate of the Japanese people.
As the thought of nuclear fallout plagued my mind I began to envision the citizens of Fukushima:
- a young couple weeping scared to death of the fate which awaits them
- a middle aged man resembling a senior citizen due to the effects of mutation
Truly scary stuff, an outcome I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy.
Understandably a selective few in the media spotlight get paid making fun of tragic events,
but some buttons should just not be pushed.
Case in point:
- Comedian Gilbert Godfried, whom lost his deal as the voice for AFLAC over tsunami jokes.
or
- Rush Limbaugh & Glenn Beck insinuating that the Japanese people deserved this.
I'd expect such heinous remarks from the members of the Westboro Baptist Church.

From what I've gathered the Japanese are an honorable people,
but one whose voice has been subverted by their government to curb dissent.
It takes a lot for them to speak up, which leaves them ripe to be exploited.
An example to backup such assumptions would be:
- a TSA worker in Hawaii who was recently caught stealing, specifically targeting the Japanese
for it was they who would be less likely to report such dire events out of shame & guilt.

Sometimes tragedies such as this can reveal ones true colors,
such is the case with Israel, whose main priority in regards to the calamity
was not the toll of death, but rather where they would obtain quality sushi from in the future,
despite past technological breakthroughs which make it possible for them to produce their own.
