Due to global turmoil, a subtle debate has ensued as to whether or not
the revolution will be televised.....
The original slogan was derived from a song of the same name by Gil Scott-Heron.
He describes its original intent here:
I believe the meaning can be perceived many ways.
For me, it means the true revolution will not hit the airwaves.
Protests & riots may be broadcast,
but the motives & movement itself will be surgically manipulated by spin doctors.
The masses will then be spoon fed the mirage they have crafted.
Similar to rat poisoning, it will be flavorful, but surreptitiously laced with cyanide
in the form of agent provocateurs disguised as malevolent protesters
or simply spun in the form of propaganda to suit the agenda they set.
Then again, with such proposals as the "internet kill switch" bill,
one need only look to the uprisings in Egypt & Libya
to understand that the revolution may be censored in your neck of the woods while simultaneously being broadcast worldwide.
Most likely scenario:
The Revolution will be podcast/blogged
Egypt shut down its internet with a series of phone calls
Egypt shuts down internet, cellphone services
how Egypt did (and your government could) shut down the internet
Libya faces internet blackouts amid protests
the revolution will be televised.....
