Bread & Circus

Who gives a shit who wins the World Cup, World Series, NBA Finals, or Super Bowl! If people invested the amount of effort or enthusiasm they do in sports & Hollywood into real world topics that effect every facet of our lives WE could make a difference.
It's todays version of "bread & circus", they use social engineering to entertain us as they strip us of our civil liberties. We're either shielded from the truth or too ignorant to decipher the probabilities.
By the time we wake up from our slumber we'll be homeless wondering how all this happened. Its a fact we our entering a depression on a global scale, to what extent is not known. The worlds largest oil spill has splashed onto American soil, our president is more concerned with the sovereignty of other nations then the one right here at home and allows foreigners to pour in above the law.
Yet we stay hypnotized by the decisions of sports figures and who's winning what. Our celebrity addiction is no different, entranced by relationships and the crimes of others. It's a bit hypocritical on my behalf as I allowed these subjects to leave me spellbound but cracked the surface and discovered nothing is peachy.
What if the oil spill occurred here?
what if immigrants bum rushed our cities and towns?
what if we lose our jobs in the coming year?
we will no longer be able to afford to watch these sports games or celebrity riffraff gallivanting around.
will we gawk from shop windows as the TV forecasts the exploits of the next gen of social retards: i.e. Justin Bieber or Miley Cyrus?
what will it take for America to wake up? my generation exclusively. there's not many amongst us who give a flying fuck, but this affects our well being, and the well being of our children.
they put so much emphasis on global warming and what future generations will think of us, well what will they think of us when they realize we sat around and allowed them to strip us of elements which protected our rights as human beings on this planet under the guise that belching beer and trumpeting swears at the television is more essential than protecting the right to do so?
Sonny said it best in "A Bronx Tale":
"If your dad needs money, go ask Mickey Mantle. See what happens.
Mickey Mantle don't care about you. Why care about him?"
