WikiLeaks War Diary

WikiLeaks made good on its promise to disclose much top secret intelligence information it had acquired and had been reviewing for some time now.
It disclosed 92,000 reports of events which transpired during the Afghan war.
Spanning 2004-2010 it covers most units from the US Army with the exception of the US Special Forces, top secret operations, or European & ISAF Forces operations.
15,000 reports have been witheld for release at a later date after being redacted to minimize harm to the source.
The goal in disclosing the reports is
to seek government transparency and accountability,
they hope this will be achieved once many analyze the documents
and criticize the management responsible.
The disclosed military documents paint a dismal picture of any progress US forces may have insinuated they had been making.
Pakistani ISI spies and Afghan police which US forces have continuously trained seem to play both sides, extorting, kidnapping, defecting to the Taliban
and even funneling US funds to support the Taliban
in as many as 180 reports.
Insurgents seem to call the shots, constantly striking then slipping away at their discretion.
Many civilian deaths are reported within the cable,
and warlords working outside the law are appointed to areas which the Afghan police cannot get under control.
Also important within the documents is the very real idea that Afghan civilians seem to be at odds with having US forces occupy their soil and hold resentment towards them in many cases.
Many small incidents turn Afghans who once welcomed soldiers into liberators of the war.
BLOWBACK!
Also prevalent in the diary is the use of drones,
which includes many mishaps leading to accidents and risky retrievals
and often seem like a high tech solution to an extremely low tech problem
(i.e. robot firing missiles on a shovel wielding insurgent)

For the most part the reports seem to confirm what many have already believed,
that we continue to fight a pointless "forever war" that we must indefinitely retreat from.
There's no end in sight, and there's nothing available which can define a victory.
Take it on the chin, and walk away.
