Bugging Out


The National Pest Management Association (NPMA)
released their first global bedbug study to determine the extent of resurgence.
95% of the pest management professionals surveyed confirmed an infestation of the nuisance.
Prior to 2000, only 25% of those questioned believed their was an invasion.
The "study suggests we are on the threshold of a bedbug pandemic".

Pest control companies reported that 52% of their calls were rural
71% urban, and 80% suburban.
89% were from apartments/condos
88% in single family houses
67% in hotels
35% in college dormitories
9% on various forms of transportation
5% in laundry facilities
4% in movie theaters

Bedbugs are nocturnal hitchhikers who suck blood as they piggy back victim to victim.
Therefore they are more present in closely knit neighborhoods.

76% of those surveyed reported bedbugs were the hardest to prevent.
More so than cockroaches, ants, or termites.
