Weapon X: mind over matter

DARPA has received $4 million to kick off a program titled "Silent Talk".
Which hopes to develop a system which will allow U.S. soldiers to communicate telepathically minus the use of speech. They hope to achieve this through the analysis of neural signals.

This is on top of $4 million the University of California received to create a software system which could interpret synthetic telepathy via a "thought helmet" with 128 sensors buried within it capable of harnessing brainwaves and turning them into audible messages .

This also taps into to yet another contract with Northrop Grumman to develop "Luke's Binoculars"

A system which will monitor a users brain activity, detect neural patterns which signal a threat,
then inform the user of its presence.
Idea being: the subconscious detects threats before the conscious mind can interpret it.

What is the endgame? When will enough be enough?
It doesn't stop at telepathic communication Professor X would be proud of.

It goes a step further with mind-controlled weapons.
Duke University has claimed they created a device which uses brainwaves to control an assortment of devices including military grade weapons.

They've already acquired the patent for said apparatus.

It's simply not enough for a monkey to just control a robotic limb

(btw: that is indeed a "Terrible Towel" on the simian's head)

or even for a monkey to control an entire robot

but now the monkey must grow capable of firing nuclear warheads telepathically?
