The King & Constipation

I'm a fan of the King, there I said it...
I'm not some nut job who runs around collecting dishes with the face of Elvis on em'

but I respect the mans work.

It's hard to deny:
-over 700 songs recorded for film, TV, & 2 record companies
-over 988 songs reported to be existence ranging from rehearsals to live shows
-a versatile artist who spanned many genres including:
country, pop, gospel, blues, & of course rock
-made 30 movies
(Elvis never wanted to sing, but rather dreamed of becoming an actor)

The man's won a wealth of awards:
-over 100 gold/platinum awards
-sold over 1 billion albums & growing
in 2005 Forbes Magazine listed him as the top grossing dead celebrity for the 5th straight year
collecting $45 million dollars between 2004 & 2005
-BBC Radio listed him as the 2nd greatest English singer of all time following Frank Sinatra
-Rolling Stone Magazine ranked him the 3rd greatest artist of all time in their top 100
-nominated for 14 Grammy's (won 3)
-received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award at age 36
-has been inducted into 4 music hall of fames

With fame of this magnitude controversy is sure to follow.
The King's personal physician of 12 years Dr. George Nichopolous recently released a book entitled:
"The King and Dr. Nick".
It authors a far different perspective about the Kings death.
The media has led the public to believe an obese Elvis died of an overdose on the toilet.
But Dr. Nick believes the toilet was a tell-tale sign of the real problem.
He confides the King for years suffered from chronic constipation but hid this from the public eye to reduce embarrassment.
As over time he couldn't properly release stool, this was the real reason he gained so much weight and appeared bloated.
May have even been a key factor in his addiction to drugs,
as one can imagine this surely entailed much pain which would surely require medication.

The autopsy revealed:
-an "enlarged heart"
-a significant amount of coronary atherosclerosis was observed
-liver damage
-the large intestine was clogged with fecal matter
-the colon was 5 to 6 inches in diameter (normally 2 to 3)
-instead of being the standard 4 to 5 feet long, his colon was 8 to 9 feet in length
-usually you pass stool within 2 to 3 days, his colon contained stool that had been there for 4 to 5 months
Indications of a painful and longstanding bowel condition.
No one knows for sure whether or not this was due to a hereditary disease, virus, or other cause?

Many doctors argue that since the dawn of the modern toilet in the middle of the 19th century,
many cancers and heart diseases are on the rise due to the banishing of the squatting position.
Humans up until this point had always squatted when defecating easing strain on the bowels.

Other interesting Elvis facts:
-The King's entourage of friends, bodyguards, & assistants were known as the "Memphis Mafia".
They all sported diamond & gold rings given by Elvis with the letters TCB inscribed:
"Taking Care of Business"

-Elvis & Co. were known to locally wreak havoc. Graceland sits just outside Highway 51,
the crew would hop on golf carts & jump on the freeway,
many times they were pulled over for causing traffic jams.

-Elvis was a gun aficionado who owned 37 guns.
When he performed live in the 70's he wore a 2-shot derringer,
2 medals were awarded to him while in the army, 1 for marksmanship the other - sharpshooting.

He was known to shoot a couple TV's in his days,
in one such incident actor Robert Goulet came on the screen and Elvis fired at will

on another occasion he shot his 1974 yellow pantera when it wouldn't start

-Elvis had a twin brother born stillbirth 35 minutes after him
(proving no one can follow the King)

-when he was 11 his mother Gladys bought him a $13 guitar,
when he was 13 she bought him an $11 guitar

-Barrett, the first person to photograph Elvis,
is rumored to have filmed the alien autopsies involved in the Roswell Incident in 1947

-the Beatles once came to Presley's house in Bel-Air to meet the King
and even had an impromptu jam session, which no one thought to record
the meeting lasted 4 hours

-In 1970 Elvis showed up at the White House unannounced armed with a loaded pistol,
he presented a letter to the northwest gate offering a WWII-era pistol as a gift.
Later he talked president Nixon into giving him a Bureau of Narcotics & Dangerous Drugs badge
which up until then had not even been created.
The irony is that Elvis was obviously taking drugs around this time.

-A recent documentary opened up the age old question of whether or not Elvis faked his death,
in this case suggesting he may have fled to Argentina.
The day after Mr. Presley's death a pan am 747 arrived in Buenos Aires from Elvis's hometown of Memphis.
One passenger got off and was quickly escorted off the tarmac.
The plane remained for an additional hour then left for Ezeiza Airport,
flight logs recorded his name as Mr. Jon Burrows,
the same name Elvis gave on his letter to President Nixon.
In 2001 Sheriff Harold Presley died (Elvis's second cousin)
a letter of condolence was received with an Argentina return address.
The letter was signed Aaron Levis. Aaron was his middle name, and Levis is an anagram of his last.
A search for Aaron Levis continues in Argentina, with many shop owners confirming his existence.
